APPLICATIONS Penetrating water repellent primer for subsequent coatings formulated with other components to provide complete protection for decking, fences/posts, façade and roof shingles, garden furniture and sheds, docks or any unpainted wood that needs protection from moisture. TYPICAL PROPERTIES Milky-white, free-flowing liquid DESCRIPTION True Shield™ TSW-1200 Emulsion is versatile water repellent for wood substrates. The water-based, low-VOC, organosilicone emulsion is a blend of siloxane monomers, polymers and organic polymer. Each component contributes properties to maintain the natural appearance of the wood, which is under constant attack. True Shield™ TSW-1200 Emulsion excludes water through synergistic effects of the components. The siloxane monomer penetrates into the capillaries of the wood. Its specific structure, containing parts that are water repellant and chemically reactive to hydroxy groups of the wood, provides long-term protection against water ingression. Other components remain in the surface layer. The low-molecular-weight liquid siloxane polymer, which has a high number of methoxy reactive sites that normally react with hydroxyl sites on organic resins, provides a physical barrier to liquid ingression. However, as siloxanes are permeable to water vapor, the organic polymer reduces the water vapor transmission rate and also gives a physical barrier to liquid water. BASE FORMULATION True Shield™ TSW-1200 Emulsion has been combined with silicones or other water beading emulsions to formulate a water repellant product for treating wood prior to application of finishing coats. True Shield™TSW-1200 is suitable for protecting decking, fences/ posts, garden furniture and sheds. Additional materials such as UV absorbers, fungicides, and algaecides improve the overall protective capability of the product to protect against wood decay organisms, mildew, & fungi. HOW TO USE Ensure the wood is clean and dry before application. If cleaning is required, a dilute bleach solution will remove the surface mildew and light dirt. In some instances, a very dilute detergent solution may be required, but generally they use of detergents should be minimized due to residues that can affect water exclusion performance. Rinse the wood thoroughly and allow to dry for at least 24 hours or until it appears visually dry. True Shield™ TSW-1200 should be applied using a low pressure sprayer, roller with 1.25” nap, brush, or power sprayer. Respread any excess liquid after 15 minutes to ensure even coverage and final appearance. While using True Shield™ TSW-1200 on vertical surfaces, it should be applied from the base USABLE LIFE AND STORAGE When stored in original, unopened containers between 39° and 77° degrees F. True Shield™ TSW-1200 has a shelf life of 24 months from date of manufacture. Refer to product packaging for “Use By” date. Avoid freezing this material. PACKAGING True Shield™ TSW-1200 is supplied in a 5 gallon pail. LIMITATIONS True Shield™ TSW-1200 is recommended for above-ground applications only.
